Choosing to attend a retreat often brings up practical questions, and sometimes quieter personal ones.

Below you will find answers to common questions about our mini retreats in the Ferguson Valley.

Women’s Retreat FAQs

  • We offer two mini retreats:

    • A Morning of Self Compassion, Relaxation and Mindfulness and,

    • Mindfulness and Relaxation Mini Retreat.

    These are short 3 hour immersive experiences.

  • Our mini-retreats are suitable for beginners.

  • It depends which retreat you attend. 

    In both retreats you will learn some mindfulness and relaxation skills and practices that you can do home as well the opportunity to reflect, unwind and relax a little. 

    In our A Morning of Self Compassion, Relaxation and Mindfulness retreat, you will also learn self compassion skills. Both retreats are gently paced to honour your need for some precious time out.

  • Our mini  retreats are held at our purpose-built facility, mindingu, in the Ferguson Valley, a peaceful, natural setting designed to enhance your learning experience.​

  • Online courses have grown exponentially in recent years, offering convenience and flexibility. However, there’s something truly valuable about learning in person; connecting with others, sharing experiences, and being fully present in the moment.  Our beautiful retreat space, surrounded by nature, provides an immersive environment that simply can’t be replicated online. Stepping away from daily distractions allows you to engage more deeply, recharge, and experience mindfulness in a way that feels natural and grounding.

  • Yes. During registration, you’ll be asked about dietary requirements, and we will do our best to accommodate them.  We aim to create a calm, restorative environment, offering a break from the usual hustle and bustle. For this reason, we do not serve coffee but provide a selection of organic teas and herbal infusions instead. All refreshments are vegetarian or vegan.

  • We generally try to keep the group size to a maximum of 12 to ensure more in-depth discussions, personalised attention, and meaningful interactions.

  • The mini retreats contain mini exercises that can be practiced throughout the day, supported by hand outs and recordings if applicable. We work with real people leading real lives so we offer real practices that you can do!

  • Our two mini retreats are slightly different.  In both we explore the given topics – a little background information, relaxation practices, mindfulness games and practices and self compassion exercises depending on the retreat. Each retreat has a light morning tea included.

  • You do not need any prior experience in mindfulness or similar practices. 

    The retreats offer a practical introduction to mindfulness which will suit beginners and even seasoned practitioners. 

    Care will be taken to respond to different levels of experience if needed.

  • They say the time to relax is when you don’t have time to relax! We get it.  You are busy. You are overwhelmed. You have a to do list that is longer than the road to Busselton!  We hear you, and we are here for you. 

    Our retreats are just for you – busy people with too much to do, allowing you some precious time just for you.

  • No need for preparation of anything prior, other than fill in the registration form when you book your place.

  • During registration we provide all the information you need for your particular retreat. 

    In general, for our mini retreats you will be asked to bring;

    • indoor shoes, slippers or non-slip socks to wear in the centre

    • a water bottle (nice to have but not essential)

    • yoga mat or towel

    • pillow

    • throw (in winter)

  • Lorna will be facilitating the retreats at this stage. She is an experienced meditator and mindfulness facilitator with expertise in acceptance and commitment coaching. 

    She brings warmth, humour and humbleness to the retreat.
