Resilience at Work Course

Developing the capacity to work well through pressure and change

Workplace stress is rarely only about workload. It’s also shaped by ongoing pressure, uncertainty, and how people respond to challenging situations over time.

When these pressures build, even capable and committed employees can begin to feel overwhelmed, disengaged or burnt out.

The Resilience at Work course helps employees develop the psychological skills needed to stay grounded, flexible and effective during demanding or uncertain periods.

Grounded in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and self-compassion, the course focuses on building real-world resilience skills that support sustainable performance.

What resilience really means

Resilience is not about pushing through difficulty or staying positive all the time.

Instead, it is the capacity to experience challenge while continuing to act in ways that support wellbeing, effectiveness and meaningful work.

Resilient employees are better able to adapt to change, stay focused during pressure and respond thoughtfully rather than react automatically.

  • The Resilience at Work programme is delivered as an 8-hour course, typically across two 4-hour sessions.

This format allows participants to explore concepts, practise new skills and apply them to real workplace situations.

The course includes practical exercises, short awareness practices, reflection and discussion, all focused on everyday work contexts.

    • recognise unhelpful patterns in thinking and behaviour

    • respond more flexibly to stress and pressure

    • navigate difficult thoughts and emotions without becoming stuck

    • stay present and focused in challenging situations

    • clarify values and what matters at work

    • take committed action aligned with those values

    • develop resilience through self-compassion rather than self-criticism

The result is stronger psychological flexibility and healthier responses to workplace stress.

    • are navigating ongoing change or high demand

    • want to strengthen employees’ ability to work under pressure

    • are looking for deeper skill development beyond awareness training

    • want a structured, evidence-based resilience program

Some organisations begin with mindfulness training and later move into resilience development, while others start here when teams are already experiencing significant pressure.

Supporting sustainable performance

The goal of this course is not to remove stress from the workplace.

Instead, it helps people develop the flexibility, awareness and resilience needed to work well alongside it.

When employees build these skills, organisations often see healthier responses to pressure, stronger engagement and more sustainable performance over time.
